Spray paint is a viable option in most cases...most time a pattern is more successful than a solid...this allows for imperfections which almost always happens on projects such as this...while still allowing some light to pass through...an easy technique involves using a template and spraying over the template for the pattern..you can use as many colors as you like by layering or interspersing the colors...will try to post an example.
