The answer to your question is yes. 35W HID bulbs will work with 55W HID ballasts, they are interchangable. I'm not sure if there are any prolonged affects on bulb life, as I didn't run it like this very long. Just FYI...

HID Bulbs and ballasts should go together. For example, 35w bulbs work with 35W ballasts, and 55W bulbs with 55W ballasts. 55W becomes less efficient since the bulb may become too hot and doesn't offer better light. It may seem brighter at first glance but is usually less efficient when compared to the 35W.May 19, 2022

Why do you need a relay harness for a ballast?

Another issue with higher-power ballasts is that since they produce greater heat levels and warm up faster , they need to be mounted on an area with good ventilation. This requires more work and some level of oversight. To complicate matters, factory wiring is usually designed to allow a stream of 16-55 watts of energy, and a higher power source may cause damage to this network. A relay harness may help avoid overloading the electric system. It allows HID bulbs and ballasts to operate independently of the vehicle’s original wiring system and can provide a power source that is more consistent.

Can a TRS be used with a halogen lamp?

TRS has no such thing. The physical HID discharge arc, no matter where it is mounted in an Hx bulb base, is physically incompatible with ANY halogen lamp. It doesn't matter whether it's a projector or reflector. Remember that when you buy, say, an H11 bulb you buy the same bulb whether you have a projector lamp or a reflector lamp. Just as no halogen bulb is specific to projector or reflector, no HID bulb can be specific to projector or reflector. It just doesn't work that way.

Can halogen projectors work with HID bulbs?

No halogen projectors work well with HID bulbs. It's physically impossible.

Do halogen projectors burn cooler than hilogen?

HID's burn cooler than halogens do anyhow, so using the 35W HID's (which are more than enough lighting) in the halogen projectors should not create any problems. I dont like 55W bulbs because even though they are brighter, the added gain in output doesn't seem worth it.
