That was the case with this window. We had to knock all the glass out (always be careful when working with glass to use heavy protective gloves and safety goggles) because it was cracked.

I didn't even need to distress the window frame because by dry brushing, much of the original color was left

Next I measured a length of lace and stapled it to the back of the antique window.
