What to consider when choosing conduit?

The last and also in some cases essential consideration when choosing conduit is the size of pipe needed to run wiring securely . The dimension of each conductor, the conductor arrangement, as well as the kind as well as temperature level score of the insulation on the wire itself establish the number of conductors you can legitimately go through each pipeline. There are a number of excellent factors for playing by the rules here-- most important, to prevent starting a fire. Running a lot of conductors through a length of conduit doesn't leave sufficient cost-free airspace to enable the electrical wiring to remain within an acceptable temperature level variety. This can create getting too hot and degradation of the insulation. Because of the number of variables entailed, you should speak with code books to determine the appropriate sizing for your conduit setup. I am looking to add a power source and lighting to the shed, running the 2.5mm cable along the fencing (approx. 14ft in length from property to shed) for the power sockets in the shed (which will have a plug in light powered from it) however, I am unsure which conduit to shield the cable with.

Standard 20mm plastic conduit will be fine, another method would be to use a cable type called Hi-tuff which is made for outdoor use, you wouldn't really need to use conduit with that as long as it's not likely to suffer mechanical damage although it would provide additional protection of course.

Although not as it is intended, I used 21.5mm waste pipe as a makeshift conduit running cables from the attic through the walls. Slightly larger than the standard conduits (ran 4 satelite cables through each), cheaper and pretty flexible. Granted it was not used outdoors so can't comment on how it will withstand uv but it is designed to get wet.

If you have decided to use plastic conduit to run cables, plastic tube is plastic tube isn't it or am I missing something?

Simply my point is as the OP wants to protect a cable to his outhouse (a straight run along a fence) why buy dedicated conduit when any similar pipe does the same job and you may already have some.
