Latex paint is NOT made to be cabinet paint though. Latex does not dry completely hard. It will always be a little stretchy, and you don't want that on cabinets. I don't even suggest using latex on furniture. It certainly doesn't sand well and again will always be a little sticky. In my opinion, latex should only be used on walls.

We have oil-based in the kitchen and acrylic latex/water-based in the kids' rooms (all BM Impervo). Dh did the painting and much prefers how the oil sprayed on, and we also prefer the resulting finish with the oil...both in smoothness and in durability.
