Yeah I see your point, I've also read about a seed bug that can get through the PEX tubing as well. sounds like a myth, but yeah rats and mice seem to love the stuff from what i'm reading. Maybe the best solution for this problem would be to insulate the PEX inside something to keep the rats away.
