Ive always been curious, but can you use Thompsons Water Seal on Wood Floors, after staining with oil base. Reason Im asking is my little dogs keeps using a spot in the room and I don't want my floors ruined. Thanks, Mary
Tom King
Train the dog. We raise small dogs. Right now, we have a litter of four 9 week olds that are loose in the house when we are sitting in the evenihgs. They run into the puppy room to use litter boxes, and have had no "accidents" in the house. They have never had the freedom of more space than they can be successful in.

OK, I will then. It's an almost completely useless product. I bought it & tried it on many outdoor items. When applied heavily enough to provide protection, it's a sticky mess (& the protection is very short lived), or apply it lightly & you have no protection. This is one product that never should have seen the light of day. End rant.

Thanks guys for responding. I have trained and had dogs all my life and even trained in 4 H in Oregon. Usually really big dogs. The one I have now is a small dog. I read her particular breed can be hard to potty train. Plus I'm on disability and hard time walking. Need a new hip.

Marine or spar varnish will take a long time to dry. And you might feel like your living inside a giant can of varnish because of the smell.

Marine and spar varnishes are softer so they can survive in the elements. If the finish was hard out in the weather it would crack. There are so many durable floor finishes today. Lots of them are waterbourne and dry quickly with little smell.
