Things not to waste money on: * Fancy spa shop chemicals, which are mostly nothing more than common grocery store items repackaged as specialty products and loaded with fillers. * Lights Things to spend on: * Getting exactly the spa you want. Don't settle for fewer jets, smaller size, layout, etc., for the sake of $$$. It's a luxury good, something to enjoy, and something you (hopefully) will buy once in ten years. Be sure to wet test. Hot tubs are more expensive to own than many realize when they make the purchase. You can reduce your life cycle costs by buying a simple, energy efficient tub. Don't be seduced by fancy lights, water features, sound sytems or high jet count. If you don't need serious hydrotherapy you can buy a quality new tub for 5,000 maybe less maybe more depending on how many will use it most of the time. I am not a hot tub person but I sure do enjoy my hot tub. We rarely socialize in ours but it is about the only place where I take time to do a series of stretches and when we tub just before turning in for the night sleep comes easily. This might help.
Do tile showers need babysitting?

Is a Kohler shower pan a tank?
At that point I gave up and luckily was able to get a warehoused Kohler Coreograph shower unit that is a bit wider and the walls will extend to the ceiling, so there won't be a gap of painted board to peel and get gross. The shower pan is built like a tank.
Is tiled bath tile good?
Again totally recommend. It's not super high end but it's really nice, clean and looks way better than any other insert, and gives a tiled bath a run for it's money. Great for an upper-end rental and a kid's bath. We are using it to replace our tub and surround in the main bath because it will look way better than the 20 year old builder-grade tiles, even though our house is not a budget house. I am that pleased with the three we've already installed (cottage, rentals). The ease of maintenance is worth it to me. Unless you look close you'd swear it was tiled.
Do you need space to install side panels?
You do need some vertical space above the top of the side panels to maneuver. If the only way to install in your situation would be to slide the panel straight back, it likely won't work. The side panels have pegs that need to fit into the top of the V-slots in the back panel, and then slide down to tighten up the joint. I don't think I'd try to pre-assemble & slide the whole thing in together... they're pretty heavy.
