All of Goodwill's stores accept donations of clothing, shoes, jewelry, accessories, handbags, luggage, household goods and other items.

What items does goodwill not accept?

Goodwill greatly appreciates every donation. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept the following items due to safety, legal or environmental concerns: Used mattresses, box springs, water beds, and sofa sleepers. Upholstered furniture (couches, mostly upholstered dining chairs, etc) Automobile parts of any kind (including tires and car batteries)

What items are accepted at Goodwill?

  • Stoves;
  • Washing or drying machines;
  • Dishwashers;
  • Refrigerators;
  • Freezers;
  • Trash compactors; and
  • hot water heaters.

Are clothes from Goodwill already washed?

Usually no. People often donate dirty clothes and they get mixed in with any clean clothes that come in. So if you're buying from Goodwill or any type of consignment shop wash your clothes before you wear them.

Do they wash clothes at Goodwill?

The answer is simple: Goodwill no longer has washers and dryers or dry cleaning machines to clean these clothes, at least at the Albuquerque main plant location. When I first started at Goodwill in 1990, we had a conveyor belt to sort good clothes from the bad ones. “Bad"clothes went to the baler. Baled clothes were sold wholesale.
