The trail head for Iron Mountain is not too far from Potato Chip Rock, which is another hike we recommend doing at night to avoid the crowd. While you're in the area, make sure to check out Old Poway Park too! If you do decide to do this hike during the day, be aware that it gets VERY hot in the summer.

You can see the city lights light up, Coronado bridge (I think), and the surrounding mountains. Even if you're not training for anything, doing a night hike at Iron Mountain is wonderful and definitely something I would love to do again. There's only one main path up and down, so it's really hard to get lost.
