What kind of paint do you use on MiraTEC trim?
Paint MiraTEC trim with two coats of high-quality exterior oil or latex paint designed for use on wood. If you have to re-prime it, make sure the topcoat is compatible with the primer. Use a brush for best results. See Application Instructions for best detail. Top quality paints will give you the best performance and long term lower cost.
Do MiraTEC trims come primed?
MiraTEC comes factory-primed with a mild primer. Most of its competitions don’t come with any priming so they need extra time with priming. Another highlight of the MiraTEC trim is that it is easy to work with. In most cases, house trims don’t come with a “built-in” primer. They come in raw and you’ll have to shape them from the scratch.
Can you paint the trims on cedar siding?
The trims have different textures on each side. One side comes with a smooth texture; the other side has a cedar wood texture so it is actually reversible. As for painting, trims usually don’t come as painted. You’ll have to paint them when you’re working. But the problem with other trims is that they can’t hold paint well.

How to store Miratec trim?
Cover when stored outside. Keep MiraTEC trim off the ground and dry. Excessive moisture pickup from improper storage may affect the performance of MiraTEC trim. Do not stack material in excess of 3 units high. For job site storage, the material should be placed on stringers and covered, preferably on concrete, asphalt, or a similar surface. For all other instances, a tarp should be placed over the ground cover under the stringers, with the material still under cover.
How much gap between Miratec butts?
Maintain a min 1/4” gap and fill with caulk where the MiraTEC butts against vinyl j-channel. This applies for both vertical and horizontal applications of trim and j-channel.
Why seal Miratec trim?
Seal the trim applications to prevent water intrusion. Do not allow water to stand on or leak behind any MiraTEC trim. MiraTEC trim used in a horizontal application, including window and door headers, must be properly flashed in accordancewiththe siding manufacturers’, window manufacturers’ or door manufacturers’ application requirements and local building codes.
Do you need electro galvanized fasteners on MiraTEC trim?
