I'm doing wallpaper project for the first time - single wall, vynil, paste the wall. I've prepared the wall with lining paper (grade 2000 as it is in a bad condition) and now wonder what's the best and simplest way of putting the paper over it.

Anyone? I'm leaning towards option 4 as I think I'm not going to be quick enough to put the next strip up before lining paper dries out on the seam (or need to stop to resume a few hours later)...

It is the lining paper that keeps slightly dodgy plaster together so its fine to paper over but just put a watered down coat of emulsion on the paper first this will show up any loose paper such bubbles or loose edges. Stick down the loose edges, cut out any bubbles and fill the holes. when the filler is dry sand it smooth, then you are ready to paper. Hi Kevin, yes you can wallpaper on top of lining paper as long as the lining paper is ok, you can always test this by putting a coat of emulsion on it to see if any bubbles appear and remain or the joints start to lift.
