I usually use a Bernzomatic MAPP gas torc h and heat the entire copper gasket until its "cherry red" then quickly dump it in a bucket of cold water to quench it. I too am wondering about his subject. When I have been in a pinch I have reused copper gaskets before in air cooled situations. I am going to reuse the gasket on my RT3 that I am restoring.

Never bought a 360 gasket ever, just keep annealing. I re-used the 250 type & get away with it, just grease them & bolt them down but best to replace 'that type' if you can, with the asbestos stuff sandwiched in the middle.

I think he means to grease both sides of the gasket to prevent it from a air leak. After annealing.
