What is the environmental goal for pipette tip washing?
How long does it take for a tipnovus to process?
What is the most important thing you would want scientists to know about the TipNovus machine?
Do biologists recycle pipette tips?
What is the environmental goal for pipette tip washing?
We are trying to create a perfect circle that allows labs to reuse and recycle pipette tips. When the lab is done using the tips, they can just use the machine one last time. Rather than discarding into biohazard waste, which is an environmentally and economically costly process. These clean tips can be recycled, or ideally sent back to tip manufacturers for reuse. This means less energy and water used, no plastic waste and less emissions from shipping all this plastic around!
How long does it take for a tipnovus to process?
The racks go into TipNovus. Depending on which system, Tipnovus can process 4 racks every 10 -12 minutes. The smaller system can process one rack every 6 minutes. The system has a dryer that can be used in parallel.
What is the most important thing you would want scientists to know about the TipNovus machine?
This is a proven technology. They are not the first ones to adopt this technology. This quite different than when we started three or four years ago. The number of tips being reused in accredited labs speaks for itself. Our customers are scientists who are open to a new, better way of doing things. Yes, it introduces big financial savings. It's also more environmentally conscious and sustainable.
Do biologists recycle pipette tips?
Environmentally conscious biologists, who contact Labconscious, often buy pipette tips in bulk, then load tip racks, autoclave tip boxes to sterilize, use then discard the tips and finally recycle the tip boxes.
Why repair micropipettes?
Repairing micropipettes conserves science funding, reduces lab waste downstream, adds operational resilience for research, and is better for the environment. Learn the steps to setting up a pipette repair shop in this green lab tip from the first university in the world to attain 100% green labs, the University of Bristol!
Can you recycle plastics in a lab?
A lack of resin codes and local recycling services does not mean that rigid laboratory plastics are impossible to recycle. Learn behind-the-scene details on a new Zero Waste option from Terracycle in this interview.
Can you find pipette tip in recycling?
Always check with the environmental, health and safety office at your institution first. Sometimes finding a pipette tip inside a recycling collection container will automatically make everything considered "trash". Your institution recycling program rules will be dependent on EPA, OSHA, local hazardous waste regulations, and the municipal recycling services that are available.
Can you recycle pipette tip?
Once you have a pipette tip recycling system cleared to start, its easy!
