Roller is best method. Spraying has so many disadvantages (masking, overspray, wind problems, viscosity etc.) and you still have to cut in. Plus with a roller, you can get a really heavy coat (or two if required) so you get much better coverage - looks better, lasts longer.

Which one do you use Tel, the motorised one or the other one? How do you move the other one, it looks heavy? can these go through a normal garden gate (say 2ft 6 - 3ft?)

They can be heavy and its wise to try and find out about drains and avoid caste covers! I have used Matilsas and some other funky name that I cant remember which was is a tracked self propelled beast.
