How to wash sweatpants after dyeing?
Once the dye has set, cut off the rubber bands/zip ties and immediately wash and dry the sweatpant according to instructions. Make sure to wash separately from other clothing as some dye will rinse out in the wash.

What frustrated me to no end was that very few tutorials I found on YouTube addressed exactly what kind of fabric was required to tie dye sweatpants. They made it sound like a non-issue, like you could just use any old white duds you happened to have laying around.

The first thing that comes to mind for “tie dye jogger set” is a gaudy explosion of colours that you’d expect to experience while tripping on some intense drugs. Depending on which colours are used and how they mix, it can turn an already busy pattern into a muddy mess!
Tie Dye Techniques
When I refer to technique, I mean the pattern that you tie dye your jogger set, t-shirt, or whatever strikes your fancy.

Gather the Rest of Your Supplies
Now that you have your pants, it’s time to get the other necessary supplies. To make tie dyed sweatpants, you’ll need:
Prep Your Pants
We recommend pre-washing your sweatpants to remove any lint and leftover starch or other coatings from the manufacturing process. Use gentle detergent, and skip the fabric softener. Instead of drying, lay the damp, clean pants out on a flat surface. Decide which tie dye technique you’d like to use.
Let Sit
Place the garment in a plastic grocery bag, and tie it shut. Set the bag aside, and let the dye work its magic for several hours. Ideally, you should let the dye sit overnight to ensure the best results. The longer you wait, the more vibrant the outcome will be.
Rinse and Wash
Once the dye has had plenty of time to set, carefully remove the rubber bands. Rinse the pants under cold water until it runs mostly clear. Then, wash your new sweats by themself in your washing machine. Use cold water and regular laundry detergent. Hang to dry, or use your dryer’s medium heat setting.
How to get dye out of sweatpants?
Remove the sweatpants from the soda ash water and wring out. Tie the sweatpants with string or large rubber bands. The tighter the string or bands, the more likely the dye will not soak underneath the area. Discard the soda ash water.
