Alarion. Don't wax it for at least some days. Tung oil cures in two-three days, but it takes over 3-4 weeks to cure completely. A wax coating will slow this process. So, let it cure.

I think I may have made a big mistake. I just had a beautiful table made out of antique cherry, and had them seal it with tung oil. When we got it to the office, we wanted a bit more protection and sheen, so we put 2 thin coats of wax on the table and buffed it. How can I undo this if this was a mistake, and was this a bad idea? If I chose the route the questioner decided upon, I would apply a few coats of carnauba wax on top of the dry and cured tung oil . This could fit the bill for the initial question about offering extra protection against the dreaded coffee cup and Coke can syndrome.
