
Do Scanpan metal handles get hot?
The handles, especially of the stock pots, get very hot. Are they not supposed to stay cool? The gas flames may shoot up the side of the pot, exposing the handles to direct heat. You may want to regulate the flame so that it heats the base of the pot only, not the sides.
Can Scanpan handles go in the oven?
Yes, all SCANPAN cookware is oven safe and up 500 degrees, including all lids and handles.
Why does the handle of a pan get hot?
If the flames come up the side of the pan then they heat the handle from hot gas and not from conduction from the pan body. Using a pan that's too small or a burner that is too big and turned up too high, the handles can get hot enough to burn you (or set wooden handles on fire...).
Can you overheat a Scanpan?

Why does everything stick to my SCANPAN?

What exactly is “pressure-cast aluminum”?
SCANPAN is “forged” from molten aluminum under 250 tons of pressure. The molten aluminum is poured into a lower mold, with an upper mold coming down to “squeeze” the liquid aluminum into the shape of the pan. The 250-ton pressure gets rid of any air pockets or other inclusions, thus ensuring perfect heat distribution without hot spots. Only pressure-cast aluminum will guarantee this flawless performance.
Is Scanpan dishwasher safe?

Correctly heating your pans is all about timing, so if you choose to heat using high temperatures, make sure it's only for a few minutes at a time.
How does SCANPAN’s method for making induction products differ from that of your competitors?

Can the magnetic base ‘break’, or become damaged from excessive heat or from use on a gas cooker?
No. In SCANPAN’s aluminium induction products, the steel plate is cast into the aluminium body, which means the magnetic bottom cannot be damaged as easily as if the magnetic layer were only sprayed on.
How to tell if a pot or pan fits a burner?
It is the magnetic area on the base that needs to fit the cooker’s burner. That’s why you need to try them out – you can check whether a pot or pan fits the burner by bringing the pan to the boil. If the product isn’t heating up, or the heat distribution is uneven, you need to look for a different pan. We therefore recommend that you buy one or two products and test them on your cooker before buying the full range.
Why does my nonstick pan slip?
The reason the slip effect deteriorates, or even disappears completely, can be because you have subjected your pan , with e.g. oil, to overheating and other treatment that your nonstick pan is unable to withstand. Overheating typically happens when oil or fats get too hot, not the pot or pan.

Can you use a pan in the oven?
Pots and pans that can go in the oven give you more ways to use your kitchenware. How to clean a glass pan?
1. Before first use, remove all packing materials, labels and tags and wash pan in hot, soapy water. Rinse well and dry. Assemble the glass cover handle, if applicable, following the instructions on the poly bag that holds all handle parts. Tighten by hand, only, do not use tools.
How to clean a burnt pot?
If food has burnt onto the bottom of your pot or pan (maybe because of overheating, see more below), here’s what to do: Fill the product 3/4 full with water, bring the water to the boil on a medium heat, add washing-up detergent and let it simmer for 15 minutes. Then clean the pot or pan as normal – see above.
How to fry meat in a pan?
Heat your pan slowly. Start by setting your hob to a medium heat, before or while preparing your meat and vegetables. Then by the time your food is ready, your pan will be perfect for frying.
What is the best heat setting for frying?
Medium heat is typically sufficient for frying and sauting. Since each stove top has its own settings, find the best heat setting for your stove by starting at a lower setting, then gradually increase until water splashed on the pan surface evaporates immediately with a sizzle.
