Melnik (2011) proposes that FoxO factors get upregulated, which causes major changes in gene expression. He hypothesizes that all of the reported side effects of isotretinoin can be interpreted in light of these FoxO-mediated shifts in gene expression. It's my impression that wrinkles have much, much more to do with photodamage and skin thickness (which is substantially determined by race/genes) than oil production per se. Worry more about all the times that you haven't worn sunscreen than the minor (to negligible) contributions of isotretinoin. Remember too that photodamage can be slightly reversed by topical retinoids (e.g., tazoratene, tretinoin), many of which are prescribed as maintenance following isotretinoin therapy.

Every where I go I read that accutane does actually mature your sebaceous glands and it does not destroy them... I think thats why if you read the description of how accutane works they use the term MATURE not damage...
