sorry, I wasn't thinking. You are right, since gold price and stock prices are the same for all cross sectional obs, you can also use ADF. To your other question: First differencing of course makes a difference, no pun intended. Instead of testing whether the level of these variables has an impact, you are testing wether the change does.

Yes, first differencing can be a solution. Just try it, and run the unit root test on the new, first differenced, variables again. Note that since you have panel data, you can't just use Dickey-Fuller/ADF for testing, instead use the tests by Breitung or Im.
