Gentle Reminder: Advocate for your education, but read the room
I know this isn’t an issue for the vast majority of you, but at my facility we recently had a problem with a student nurse getting in the way at inappropriate times during a couple of traumas.
DONT GIVE UP!!!
Hello, if you feel like quitting, if you lost, defeated, under qualified, overwhelmed or anything else, here’s a reminder that you CAN do this! I started nursing school (bsn program) fall 2019. I failed out the very first semester, I’m an alcoholic who didn’t have their drinking under control, my grades suffered immensely.
Feeling extremely hopeless
I was dismissed from my program today. The night before clinical I was having the worst diarrhea of my life, was still planning on going to clinical, fell asleep at 4 in the morning, and missed my alarm. Texted my instructor around 7:30 what had happened. It was considered a no call/no show, and I was dismissed.
Patient nearly made me tear up today
No, it may not be what you think. I'm one of those dudes who don't really show emotion that much, but today, I almost teared up in front of a patient. My nurse preceptor and I was changing a dressing on his pretty gnarly wound.
Anyone else just in a constant state of perpetual stress all the time?
In my last semester of school and I am just so burned out and stressed out all the time. I can never get a break and I am always constantly stressed out about school. My grades are only based on test scores so if I do bad on one I’m essentially done for and fail out of the program.
Med-Surg professor recommending homeopathy
In a lecture on immune diseases/disorders, my med-surg professor had homeopathy listed as “highly researched” alternative therapy for fibromyalgia. For the love of god, we NEED more hard science in nursing. Nobody is going to take nursing seriously if we’re pushing pseudoscience.
