When the room is in chaos, I can’t work in there. It got me thinking that I haven’t used my computer desktop in the home office for work in a long time. I would always use my laptop downstairs as it was more convenient & my family surrounded me.
I had an idea & went with it
So it got me thinking! I knew I wanted a cozy guest room on a budget. Maybe I should turn the home office into a cozy & inviting guest room or a room for our youngest grandson when he visits. I ran with the idea to my husband; honestly, at first, he was not too keen on the idea, but with a bit of convincing, he was on board.
Clear out the room & plan out the layout
I cleared out the home office, Then I sorted through things to either donate, trash or store elsewhere. It literally took the entire weekend! It is important to have a blank slate to work with. We did not move the Armoire out of the room because it is so heavy & very old.
The Bedframe
Creating a cozy guest room on a budget was not easy, but once the room was cleared out and cleaned. I could now figure out how to layout the space & also the budget. The first thing I did, I started looking for a bed frame. I was very particular in the bed frame design as I wanted it to be a vintage-style frame.

I purchased a new quilt set online. We already had a mattress & box spring on hand. So that was a saving in itself.
Adding softness & coziness to the room
As I was near completing the space, I contemplated for a few weeks about adding curtains, I wanted to add some texture but still have that cozy feel in this space. I posted on my Instagram & Facebook page about it and was suggested to hang sheers. I am so glad I did.
How long did it take to plan out?
This space for a cozy guest room on a budget was a well-thought-out plan for a few months & I spent time searching on Pinterest and Instagram for inspiration. I didn’t want to just add things into the room that I wasn’t striving for, only to turn around and get rid of it, and I love how it all came together.
