What is a good score on NYSSMA?
Level 1-4 music is rated as “Outstanding, “Excellent”, “Good”, etc. on a scale of 1-28 with 28 being a perfect score. Level 5-6 music is rated as A+, A, A-, B+, B, etc. on a scale of 1- 100 with 100 being a perfect score.
What grade does NYSSMA start?
NYSSMA levels are 1-6. Levels 1-4 are graded out of 28, and levels 5 and 6 are graded out of 100.
What should I bring to NYSSMA?
WHAT SHOULD STUDENTS BRING TO NYSSMA? Students must bring two original copies of music - one for the performer and the other for the adjudicator. Extra piano scores are acceptable for use as a second copy. Photocopied music is not permitted and may result in disqualification.
What NYSSMA score do you need for all state?
98-100At the conclusion of the festival, the All-State adjudicators create a rank ordered proficiency list of all students being recommended. Every student who earns a score of 98-100 must be recommended.
Is NYSSMA good for college?

What happens at NYSSMA?
What is a NYSSMA festival? NYSSMA sponsors approximately 145 solo & small ensemble and major ensemble festivals in New York State each spring. At solo and small ensemble festivals, students are given a performance evaluation that involves playing a graded solo from the NYSSMA Manual, playing scales and sight reading.
Is NYSSMA 2022 Cancelled?
No exceptions! Therefore, you should register as soon as possible if you plan to participate. NYSSMA and All State Festivals are being held in-person this year and will take place on Friday, March 18, 2022 and Saturday, March 19, 2022. You MUST provide proof of vaccination in order to participate.
