In one case with a porcelain piece that was destined for the bin I added tiny cut up pieces of fibre glass cloth (assuming it was silica and would melt) just to see what would happen and it worked well.

Thanks Janie. Unfortunately I had a shelf fall on two fish and completely broke off a fin on one and the tail of another. Clean breaks, though! I can't wait to try the paper clay made with the magic water.

I second Julie's recommendation. I have repaired a column when the bottom base blew out. Just wet the bisque well before you add the paper clay so it is not sucked dry too quickly.
