How much space should be between millboard boards?
We recommend a 0.16" gap between the sides of boards and a 0.04" gap between the ends of boards, a 0.4" gap should be left between the boards and any solid surface to aid drainage. Can Millboard be laid on concrete?
Yes. It is possible to install Millboard Decking over concrete.
Can you glue Millboard?
As Millboard is non-porous, any moisture from the soil in the planter will not affect our boards like it does timber. As Millboard can be mitred and glued using PU wood adhesive, it makes it very easy to create a seamless masterpiece.
Is millboard any good?
British-made Millboard boasts one of the highest anti-slip ratings, having been inspired by shoe soles. Both Millboard and American-owned Trex are also resistant to rot, mould, scratching and fading, unlike normal timber decking.

Can you screw decking straight to concrete?
Decking boards must NEVER be laid directly on the ground but instead should be fixed to joists of a suitable sub-frame. In most cases we recommend installing your Alpha Composite Decking on a solid concrete base using plastic composite joists.
Can you attach composite decking directly to concrete?
Yes, you can install composite decking on concrete. Concrete patios and other hard surfaces are an ideal place to lay deck tiles because they are stable and durable. Concrete provides a more stable surface for composite decking, compared to surfaces such as gravel or sand.
Does millboard decking get hot?
Millboard is UV-proof and has been designed to retain its colour. And as it's not real timber, it won't expand in the heat. But just like the rest of us, Millboard can get hot in high temperatures.
Can you jet wash Millboard?
DO NOT pressure wash as you could damage the finish on the boards. The surface texture is virtually non-porous, to remove dirt and grime wash with soapy water and bush with a broom before rinsing off.

Do you screw decking at every joist?
Each deck board should be fastened with two screws at each point where the board crosses a joist to ensure the stability and durability of your deck's surface. Boards should be fastened to rim joists with three screws.
What bit do you use for deck screws?
For accurate drilling use a brad point bit. Set the power drill speed setting to level 1. Drive the screw straight down into the board, making sure the head is flush with the surface of the board.
How deep should decking screws be?
