The only way I believe you can lighten them is to remove and replace them with a stone you like.
Step 2
Apply the soapy solution to the flagstone with a scrubbing brush. Scrub until you remove the dirt and debris on the flagstone.

Spray the flagstone with natural stone polish. Use as little polish as possible.
Step 5
Rub the polish into the flagstone with a clean cloth. Rub in a circular motion until the flagstone has a bright and polished surface.

Buff off the polish with another clean cloth until the surface is shiny and dry.
