How do you make a zombie shirt with fake blood?
You can purchase fake blood or create your own by mixing together 1 cup of Karo syrup, 1 tablespoon of water, 2 tablsepoon of red food coloring and 1 tablespoon of yellow food coloring.
Step 1: Materials
You will need a long white dress. I bought mine at Goodwill for $8. Additionally, you will need tea bags, boiling water, and a paint brush to dye the dress. You will also need scissors, an x-acto knife, your hands or whatever. Anything that you can use to tear the dress will work. The last thing you need is red paint.
Step 2: Dye the Dress
To give the dress and antique look I decided to dye my dress a tan-ish color. This is super simple to do. First, I boiled water and made a few cups of different teas. Then I cut several little pieces of fabric from the dress and soaked them in the tea for about 10 minutes.
Step 3: RIP IT UP!
Just take take scissors (or whatever your using) and shred the dress. This part was so much fun!I thought the dress looked really cool after is cut off the hem. If your dress has a lining, DON'T CUT IT. That way you won't have to wear a camisole underneath. Have fun!
Step 4: Paint It!
Take red paint and a paint brush to paint the dress! I used red fabric paint but I'm sure there are other kinds of paint that will work. I thought the coolest ways to get the paint onto the dress were to spatter it from the bottle onto the dress or to make smudged streaks. After painting, allow the costume to dry. Your done!
Step One
Adjust the dressform to fit the person this costume is for. Pin a piece 2yd piece of Snow White OlyFun in a column on the dress form. Cut down the fold about 6-8″. Pin this opening under the arm hole, bringing the front of the cut to the shoulder line. Cut the back straight across to the “selvage”.
Step Two
Down the front center cut to about 3-4 inches below the neck bone. Make these longer for more cleavage. Pleat the front sections to each shoulder, making sure the armhole is free of fabric.
Step Three
Pleat the back, pinning the fabric to the dressform. Make this fitted, if you want a side closure. Otherwise pleat it larger than the body for a slip on dress.
Step Four
Cut a long 3″ wide strip. Fold this over the back pleats, adjusting the pins, so they are only holding the two pieces of fabric together.
Step Five
Cut two long 6″ wide strips. Fold one over each shoulder pleated section, adjusting the pins. Do not pin them to the back yet. Remove any pins holding the dress to the form.
Step Six
At the sewing machine, straight stitch across the back pleated section.
Step Eight
Invert the strap fabric. Trim the excess pleated fabric. Revert the strap fabric. Straight stitch down the strap side opening. Trim strap fabric to be 1/4″ from side seam.
