Step 1

Fold the rope in half to find the center. Place the center flat on your work surface or the ground.

Step 2

Create a loop. Put the rope right under left on the right side of the center. Curve the rope away from you to create the loop (right under left). The loop should be approximately 8 inches in diameter. You will need to make it larger if you are going to put this around a person's ankles.

Step 3

Create an identical loop to the left of the center of the rope. Lay flat.

Step 4

Put the right loop on top of the left loop to overlap the two loops. It will resemble a pretzel. Grasp the loops in the middle where they overlap and pull them in opposite directions to tighten it. It should now look similar to a butterfly.

Step 5

Place the person's hands or ankles in the two loops. Pull the two ends of the rope down to create traction to tighten around his hands or ankles. Pull him out of the trapped area.

Step 6

Tie the ends in a knot as you do your shoe to use as a restraint. Cross the ends of the rope, loop one end below the cross and pull tight. Repeat two times.

Step 1

Fold the piece of 550 cord in half and lay it vertically on your work space with the two loose ends farthest away from you. Measure and mark the spot that is 7 1/2 feet below the top of the 550-cord. Tie a single knot on this spot.

Step 2

Arrange the two loose cords so that one is positioned to the left-hand side and one on the right. The two middle cords are called the central cords. Place the left-hand cord underneath the two central cords. Place the right-hand strand underneath the two central cords and back through the loop in strand one.

Step 3

Pick up strand one (which is now on the right-hand side) and place it underneath the central strands. Pick up strand two and place it underneath the central cords and back through the loop created by strand one. Pull the ends of strand one and strand two tightly to form a knot.

Step 4

Repeat this knotting technique until the desired length of bracelet is knotted.

Step 5

Place the bracelet around your wrist. Insert the two loose ends through the two holes in the top of the bracelet. You may need to manipulate the holes with your fingers to create a hole that is large enough to fit the cords through. Measure and mark a spot on the cords where they touch around the wrist.

Step 6

Cut off the excess thread after the mark. Carefully burn off the frayed edges of cord with a lighter.

Step 7

Place the bracelet over your wrist. Push the knots through the holes to secure the bracelet.

ESCAPING ZIP TIES

Zip ties are extremely useful items in a bug out bag or survival kit, and one of the many uses that they fulfill is none other than to tie people up if necessary.

ESCAPING HANDCUFFS

Handcuffs have been in use for many years, and yet during that time the process by which they work (referred to as the double lock) has largely been left unchanged during that time. In fact, both the single and double lock mechanisms remain virtually unchanged since the invention of handcuffs in 1912.

ESCAPING DUCT TAPE

Duct tape is arguably the easiest restraint method to break out of, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. Duct tape, a fabric tape reinforced with polyethylene coating, is undeniably one of the strongest adhesives out there. This is great news for when you need to get something repaired, but its bad news if you’ve been tied up with it by hostile forces.

CONCLUSION

Hopefully, you’ll never find yourself in a situation where you will need to break free and make an escape. But when it comes to prepping, you must be ready for anything. Like we’ve mentioned before, have a friend or family member on standby while you practice getting out of these restraints.

The Kinky Missionary

How you do it: “The person on the receiving end lies on her back, hands overhead and cuffed,” says Carol Queen, Ph.D., staff sexologist at Good Vibrations. “You can up the ante with a second pair of cuffs on the ankles if the bed has legs to loop the cuff’s chain or a length of rope to. The dominant person is on top, probably talking dirty.”

Queening in Bondage

How you do it: “For this position, the submissive partner is on the bottom. ‘Queening’ is also known as ‘sitting on his face,’ so this is an oral sex position where the woman gets lovely licks while the man’s wrists are bound above his head; she just has to take care not to put her weight on his arms when settling in to be pleasured.

Hands Behind Ankles

How you do it: “Lie down with your belly to the floor or bed. Bend your legs up and reach back for your feet. Attach the handcuffs around your wrists so that they sit behind the ankles,” says licensed marriage and family therapist and clinical sexologist Kat Van Kirk.

Standing Room Only

How you do it: “Find a spot, like a towel rod or a hook against the wall, where you can handcuff your partner’s arms while standing up ,” Morse says. “Once you have both hands restrained above their head, tell them not to move.

Step 1: Tools and Materials

About 170-200 feet of 550 paracord. (Buy extra, just in case. I can do it in 200, you will likely have more waste. 250-300 is a better amount starting out) 3/4 inch diameter hardwood dowel. BBs or very small lead shot. 5-minute epoxy. Bench vise (not shown).

Step 2: Making Pointed Ends for Fancywork

When sealing the ends, it is often best to make it pointed, for easier threading in a needle: Diagonal cut paracord is much easier to thread into a needle: 1) Pull the sheath back an inch or two, and cut off all the strands. 2) Push the sheath back out, beyond the strands. 3) Cut the sheath at a diagonal, as shown.

Step 3: Prepare the Handle

For a stockwhip, cut a length of dowel about 18 inches long, and sand a groove about 1/2 inch wide 1/2 inch from one end of the rod.

Step 4: Prepare the Core

For the stockwhip, cut 4 strands of paracord, and heat-seal the ends: 1x 72" 1x 54" 1x 36" 1x 18" Bind the 4 strands together with sinew, starting with a constrictor knot, binding tight for about 2cm/1 inch, then loose out to nearly the end of the short strand, then back up and finish off tight w/a constrictor. For the bullwhip, cut 3 strands, 1x 63", 1x 45", 1x 27".

Step 5: Belly Plait Start

Cut and gut 4 strands for the belly, sealing the ends with a candle. 2x 128" 2x 160" Start with a diamond plait.

Step 6: Attach the Belly to the Core

Lay the core on top of the belly. Cross the "top" strands of the belly, then O1U1 pattern back to their respective sides. Repeat this. Keep repeating this until there are 6 crossings. Then flip the whole thing over about the long axis of the whip.

Step 7: Plait the Belly

Around the back, Under 2, Over 2. Do the same on the other side. Bind the end with the diamond plait in a vice so you can pull the plaiting tight. Pull tight, then do the U2O2. Pull tight, plait loose. It's much easier and will give you a better whip than trying to pull tight after plaiting a strand through.
