Mod Podge can be really streaky and thick when applying, so we’re going to use the same epoxy we’re coating the tumbler with. If you have a spray adhesive, I’d go right ahead and use that. Similarly, if you have Mod Podge and are a master at applying it, it should work just fine.

STEP 1: TAPEING OFF THE ENDS

Most epoxies are not FDA approved so putting your mouth on the rim of a tumbler that’s epoxied might not be such a great idea. Now this step is not an absolute must especially if you’re using the lid and/or straw so your mouth never comes in contact with epoxy itself. Just keep this in mind when starting your cup.

STEP 2: SPRAY PAINT

Once everything is taped off where you would like it’s time to add the spray paint. You can just lay out a piece of cardboard and set the cup on top of it to spray. I find it easier to use the PVC pipe from the cup turner to spray the cup.

STEP 3: TIME TO ADD THE GLITTER

When adding glitter to your tumbler you want to use something underneath your cup to catch the glitter that falls off such as a piece of paper, a paper plate, a tray and so on. It’s whatever you prefer or is handy at the time.

STEP 4: EPOXY 1 ST COAT

Now that your spray paint and glitter are dry it’s time to epoxy. Attach your PVC pipe with your cup in the turner. Mix a small amount of epoxy using your disposable cups and stir sticks. Flip the switch on the turner to start rotating.

STEP 5: SANDING

When the first layer of epoxy is cured you can use a 220 grit sandpaper and sand the entire outside of the cup until it is smooth. I know what you’re thinking “it’s all scratched up now” just trust me it will look nice and shiny again. Then you want to rinse it off or take alcohol and wipe it down to remove any dust.

STEP 6: VINYL DECALS

By this point, you should already have an idea of where you want your decal. If you even want a decal that is, you may like it with just the glitter. You can skip this step if that’s the case. But if you would like a decal or name decal let’s get to it.

STEP 7: EPOXY 2 ND COAT

Place your cup back on the cup turner and mix up another small batch of epoxy. Spread another thin even coat over the cup ensuring no spots are missed. Leave on the turner to spin for another 12 hours and can hang dry until completely cured. I’d say that 24 hours is the standard.
