I have a client running Exchange 2003 and an outside contractor using Office 2013. This user insists on using Outlook 2013 (even though it would be solely to access the Exchange server) and we don't have immediate plans to upgrade the Exchange server.

Hi Chuck, sorry about the Outlook config, you´re right, Exchange 2003 offers EAS but not in a complete way that 2007 or newer does as needed for Outlook 2013.

Have you tried doing a manual Exchange account config on the Outlook 2013? Also i would recommend setting up (as the tittle says) an hybrid config doing a staged migration that also allows you to work in and hybrid mode.
