curious as to the best method for fixing the beading to the floor/skirting?

crazycanuck

I would use 1/4 round and use brad nailer fixing to skirting allowing laminate to expand when needed

mattysupra

brad nailer best but as diyer you will not have one i guess. I dont like glue. It will give you problems if ever you change the floor and also if going around bends etc can be very difficult to work with. Try manual nailing it? And only pin to skirts

ipjodan

I know someone who used mitre fix. That was a few years ago and its still stuck fine. Yes only attach to skirting.

How to finish beading thread: option 1

The simplest way to finish your beading thread is just to weave it in through the beadwork.

Starting a new thread

When you come to start a new beading thread, you can just follow the same process in reverse.

How to finish beading thread: option 2

After a while spent weaving my thread ends into my beadwork, I learned about another option. I think this second option offers more security. However, you may want to think carefully about this option if you are considering how best to finish Fireline.

Starting a new thread this way

As with the other method, you can use this in reverse to start a new thread. Pull your thread through a couple of beads a little way away from where you want to start again. Knot between beads, then pass through a couple more beads – heading towards your starting bead – knot between beads again.

1. Stretch the Beading Thread

Beading thread is an essential tool when bead stitching and there are different kinds—GSP threads e.g. Fireline and Wildfire and Nylon threads like Nymo.

2. Double the Beading Thread

Cut an extra long piece of thread, thread your needle and pull it to the center. This way, you’ll work with a doubled thread and it provides more structure and support to the beadwork.

3. Use Beeswax

Beeswax adds a coating to the thread causing it to stick to itself. As a result, the thread stays in place better.

4. Reinforce Thread Paths

It’s super important to reinforce your beadwork especially when doing stitches like Right-Angle Weave (RAW).

6. Hold the Beads In Place

Pick up your work and get a good grip on your tail thread and the beads as you stitch. I’ve taught so many classes and seen students attempting to bead with their project on the beadmat.

7. Get Support

No, I don’t mean to call a friend. Although, beading with friends is more fun.

8. Cull Your Beads

Using broken or misshapen beads is a sure-fire way to get poor thread tension. Even if your tension is great, the misshapen beads will make your beadwork look uneven.
