Full Answer

What is TheraCal used for?

Its unique apatite stimulating ability makes it ideal for direct and indirect pulp capping and as a protective liner. TheraCal LC is a light-cured, resin-modified calcium silicate filled liner designed for use in direct and indirect pulp capping and as a protective liner under composites, amalgams, cements, and other base materials.

Can TheraCal LC be used for pulp capping?

No, TheraCal LC is virtually insoluble when compared to other traditional calcium hydroxide-based liners and pulp-capping agents. Can TheraCal LC be used in pediatric cases for either direct or indirect pulp capping? Yes. TheraCal LC is indicated for both direct and indirect pulp capping, and can be used safely with pediatric patients.

What is TheraCal PT made of?

The chemical formulation of TheraCal PT consists of synthetic Portland Cement calcium silicate particles in a hydrophilic matrix which facilitates calcium release.* Primarily designed for pulpotomy treatments. May be placed on pulp exposures (direct pulp capping) after hemostasis is obtained.

How do you mix TheraCal PT?

Unlike traditional MTA products, there is no mixing by hand. Easily and directly dispense TheraCal PT from the dual-barrel auto-mix 4g syringe. Restore in 1 office visit with quick working and setting times: WT=45 seconds at 35°C (min.) ST= 5 minutes at 35°C (max.)

Do you etch with TheraCal?

Cover all moist effected surfaces with TheraCal LC, light-cure, and proceed with the bonding procedure (Figure 1). The tooth is then etched with either a total-etch or selective phosphoric-acid technique. A bonding agent is then used before seating the restoration (Figure 2).

Can TheraCal be used for direct pulp cap?

TheraCal LC is a light-cured, flowable resin-modified calcium silicate filled liner that can be used for direct and indirect pulp caps.

Can you use TheraCal for Pulpotomy?

TheraCal PT is a biocompatible, dual-cured, resin-modified calcium silicate designed for pulpotomy treatment. TheraCal PT maintains tooth vitality by performing as a barrier and protectant of the dental pulpal complex.

How do you place an indirect pulp cap?

There are two indirect pulp cap procedures....One-step indirect pulp cap proceduretreats cavities in the tooth (without exposing pulp) and places the protective liner over the dentin layer.covers the dentin with a seal.seals the tooth with a filling.

Do you light cure TheraCal?

Description. TheraCal LC is a light-cured, resin-modified calcium silicate filled liner designed for use in direct and indirect pulp capping and as a protective liner under composites, amalgams, cements, and other base materials.

Can TheraCal be used in primary teeth?

Radiographic success at 12 months was 90% for TheraCal LC and 83.3% for formocresol. Conclusions: TheraCal LC can be an effective medicament for vital pulpotomy in primary molars.

How long does a pulpotomy take?

A pulpotomy takes about 30 minutes to complete from start to finish. A member of the dental team will first numb the area to ensure that your child won't feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure. The endodontist will remove the damaged pulp from the tooth before sterilizing the area to remove all the infection.

What is calcium hydroxide dental?

Calcium hydroxide was originally introduced to the field of endodontics by Herman1 in 1930 as a pulp-capping agent, but its uses today are widespread in endodontic therapy. It is the most commonly used dressing for treatment of the vital pulp.

What is LC in dental?

Description. TheraCal LC is a light-cured, resin-modified calcium silicate material that performs as a barrier and protectant to the dental pulpal complex. It is indicated for direct and indirect pulp capping and as a protective base/liner under restorative materials including composite, amalgam and cements.

What is the difference between indirect and direct pulp cap?

Pulp capping can be divided in to two categories: indirect pulp capping or direct pulp capping. For an indirect pulp cap, a carious lesion approaches the pulp tissue, but a pulp exposure does not occur. With a direct pulp cap, the pulpal tissue is exposed and a medicament is placed over the exposure.

How long does it take for pulp cap to heal?

In this study, all teeth capped with ZOE showed chronic inflammation, no pulp healing and no dentin bridge formation up to 12 weeks post-operatively. Conversely, all control teeth that were capped with calcium hydroxide demonstrated healing within four weeks.

How long does a pulp cap take to heal?

Dentin formation usually starts within 30 days of the pulp capping (there can be a delay in onset of dentin formation if the odontoblasts of the pulp are injured during cavity removal) and is largely completed by 130 days.

Unique Hydrophilic Matrix

BISCO has developed a unique hydrophilic matrix that allows for ion exchange. Previous or traditional resin matrices have been hydrophobic, but BISCO’s matrix allows for ion exchange as water goes into the matrix, reacts, and calcium hydroxide ions are released. This matrix is hydrophilic but will not dissolve over time.

Pulpotomy Treatment

There are several ways in which a pulp can be damaged. Most commonly in children, tooth decay or traumatic injury lead to painful pulp exposure and inflammation. The primary goal of a pulpotomy is to treat, restore, and save the tooth.

Overview Of Theracal

Many men and women in their later years struggle with bone density and bone health. As we get older, our bones become weathered and susceptible to breaks and fractures. Even younger individuals who have had accidents or sports injuries in the past are susceptible to the same types of dangers.

How Does Theracal Work?

One of the main selling points of this product (according to the manufacturer) is that it contains a specifically potent blend of vitamins and minerals. The manufacturer states that the problem with a lot of other bone health supplements is that many of the nutrients in them are absorbed in the stomach and never get to the bones at all.

Who Is The Manufacturer Of Theracal

Theracal is made by a company called Theralogix, LLC. Theralogix, LLC was founded in 2002, and in that time, they have released more than 30 supplemental products into the market. The company states that its goal is to give consumers a clear choice for quality supplements in a space that is saturated with dubious products.

What Are The Ingredients In Theracal

The ingredients in this supplement are straight forward. There is nothing here that would raise the eyebrows of anyone who has even taken a daily multivitamin. Still, you should know what’s in any supplement you are considering taking.

The Science Behind Theracal

All of the vitamins and minerals in Theracal seem to be on the up-and-up. What concerns us, though, is recent information about some of the main ingredients of this product, particularly calcium and vitamin D.

What Are The Drawbacks Of Theracal

When you buy from the official website, you will be enrolled in an auto-refill program.
