I would have to agree with goin deep, realy need to know how long the motor is. Reason is if you are trying to put a short shaft on, it just won't work. Second, I would not want to "add" anything to the brackets you are talking about. They are flimsy and the further you move the motor from the boat the more torque is on the mounting.

Here's a point you may want to consider; the farther back you mount the kicker, the harder it's going to be to link it to the I/O so you can steer from the wheel.

May 10, 2020 · If its mounted on a bracket, always leave the motor in the down position. Use the bracket to raise and lower it. Never tilt the motor on a bracket, and always remove the motor and put it in the car when you are on the highway. If mounted directly on the transom, it can stay there all the time. Just add bolts.

Apr 29, 2020 · It runs great but I do off shore trolling and get out 20 to 30 miles while running between the islands. I want to install a kicker motor on the starboard side for safety purposes. I've already got a Yamaha 20 hp 4 stroke to do the job but am wondering what bracket would work best for the location and that can handle the weight of the motor.
