Rising rate fuel regulator uses the manifold vac/pressure to drive the fuel pressure up as the boost rises, or with the N/A engines, as the vacuum goes toward atmospheric. From what I've read the OE unit works well and there is no need to change it unless you are building a high HP engine.

Rising rate regulators are used. By having it react to engine vacuum (hose to the plenum), it temporarily increases fuel pressure on demand. By doing so, you are injecting more fuel though the injector duration remains the same.
