S-Monovettes contain beads coated with a clotting activator (silicate). As a rule, this clotting additive enables the blood to clot within 20 to 30 minutes and the sample can be centrifuged. The beads form a layer between the blood clot and serum during centrifugation.
What is a Monovette blood collection system?
A blood collection system that combines two blood collection techniques – the aspiration technique and the vacuum technique. The S-Monovette® is suitable for all vein conditions and achieves an optimal sample quality, thereby producing the best results. The aspiration technique is a gentle technique for routine blood collection.
What is S Monovette aspiration?
S-Monovette ®. The aspiration technique is a gentle technique for routine blood collection. Using the vacuum technique, a "fresh" vacuum is always available. Suitable for all ages, from young to old, the S-Monovette is as individual as your patients.
How does S-Monovette ® work?
These small blood volumes are drawn directly and gently into the S-Monovette ® system containing a range of additives and can be processed directly. Significantly reducing laboratory diagnostic blood loss can reduce hospital-acquired anemia and improve patient outcomes.
Can the S Monovette be used as an evacuated tube?
Used as an evacuated tube. The S-Monovette can also be used as an evacuated tube by drawing the plunger fully down and snapping it off immediately prior to blood collection. This creates a fresh vacuum and ensures a precise filling volume, ensuring a correct dilution ratio.

What is the S-Monovette?
S-Monovette® – the revolution in blood collection. A blood collection system that combines two blood collection techniques – the aspiration technique and the vacuum technique. Uniting the advantages of both techniques in a single product.
What is the use of a syringe?
When used as a syringe, the phlebotomist has full control over the speed at which the blood is drawn into the tube. This is particularly useful for patients with fragile veins, such as the very young or elderly, where the use of the aspiration technique prevents even the most fragile veins from collapsing. When the tube has been filled, the plunger is simply snapped off to leave a primary sample tube which can be centrifuged and is compatible with all major analysers.
Does the S-Monovette have a vacuum?
Furthermore, unlike pre-evacuated tubes, the S-Monovette does not have to hold a vacuum for many months after manufacture, which allows the membrane stopper to be thinner and more easily penetrated by the needle sheath.
Can a S-Monovette be used as an evacuated tube?
The S-Monovette can also be used as an evacuated tube by drawing the plunger fully down and snapping it off immediately prior to blood collection.
Is the S-Monovette needle a holder?
The S-Monovette needle is ready to use so that there is no need for assembly to a holder. The needle is of a compact, low profile design, which reduces the chance of haematoma by allowing for a reduced angle of puncture and eliminates the possibility of needle stick injury caused by assembly of the needle and holder. The compact design also results in approximately one sixth of the sharps volume caused by using a pre-evacuated system, giving significant cost savings.
