I have Emerald Gaiety and it's climbing a 6 foot stone wall with 2 foot trellis above. It puts on about 8 inches a year and is currently about 8 feet high and 20 wide. If yours touches the side of the house it'll start to climb so you'll need to trim it off. Can't speak to the Emerald Spire.

Answer #1 · Maple Tree's Answer · Hi Robert-The growth rate of this plant is considered to be medium to fast. My experiance in growing this plant in hardiness zone 9 in Southern Ca. has shown this plant capable of growing approximately 2 feet a year when its needs are meet for healthy growth.
