Is Mount Diablo ruined by bikers?
This park is amazing but too bad its ruined by overzealous bicyclers. I've been in the bay area a long time and always wanted to visit Mount Diablo. Recently on a Saturday around noon I traveled up the winding road to the top. Once at the top the park is really spectacular and I enjoyed the history museum and the trails around the main peak. Unfortunately going up and down the main road there is a swarm of bikers who yell at you while you drive the park. My driving was very conservative and I'm not sure why the threatening nature of the bikers. Conversely the bikers had no issue breaking the rules of the road such as blocking the road rather then riding single file, tailgating on the way down, and speeding well beyond the 15-25 mph posted speed limits. Too bad because it ruined a really special park.
