How long does it take to become an EFDA in PA?

The EFDA Program takes place over two semesters. Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to apply for their State Board Licensure Exam. Please note: a criminal history may prevent certification/licensure as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant in Pennsylvania. Please contact the SBOD for further information.

What happens after I complete the online EFDA test?

Once the online EFDA test has been completed, the student will then attend the second portion of the course in person in our facility to demonstrate their proficiency in the EFDA procedures. After both portions of the course are completed the student will be administered their Florida Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Certification.
