There’s multiple ways to advance past E9. Becoming CSM of the Army should not be on the list. Even if your whole career is aimed at getting that position, the odds are not in your favor. You’re more likely to be hit by lightning and bit by a shark simultaneously, than become CSM of the Army.

Is it bad to be an E9?
