Is WSET exam hard?
You'll need to score a minimum of 70% to pass the exam but you don't need to concern yourself with that since you're aiming for +90% anyway. The WSET 1 is also a closed-book exam, so don't dare take your textbook, study notes, or crib notes into the venue. That will not end well for you.

Though WSET offers classes online, WSET suggests that students should let their preferred exam location dictate their choice of which school to register with. The online instruction itself is the same all over the world. But the school / provider that students register with will be the one to send study materials and the school that will administer the exam at its physical location. When will the level 4 wine tasting exam be available?
Please note, this Specification and Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine come into effect from 1 August 2019. Although the Level 4 Diploma in Wines is available to book now from some of our course providers, it will not be possible to sit the examination until after the 1 August 2019.
Is Spirits part of the WSET?
Spirits is not part of the new Diploma , but there will be one final Unit 4 Spirits examination for resit-only candidates in March 2020. All students transferring with a pass in Unit 4 or who gain a pass in March 2020 will graduate with the WSET Diploma in Wines and Spirits upon completion of all Units.

What to Expect in the WSET D1 Exam
The WSET Diploma D1 exam is an essay-only exam, much like module D2. While some test-takers will be relieved that there is no tasting component in this first module, it does highlight the fact that you have to have a somewhat mastery of the material in order to pass (albeit at a nominal 55% score).
Logic to Consider for the WSET D1 Essays
For me, the biggest challenge I had in D1 was simply keeping all the topics straight in my head. While this module is a more robust version of the same topics from Level 3, the amount of material you have to keep track of is still staggering no matter how you look at it.

Your course may take place in a classroom or online, and it is only on completion of the course and relevant learning hours that you will be ready and able to attend your exam.
What happens if you don't have a photo ID for WSET?
