If I'd known they were going to charge for the elec, I'd have managed with the solar. The cost was only 2 or 3, it was the principle!

No experience yet, as we're yet to take our new-to-us van out, but I'm seriously considering a Safefill gas bottle, as the LPG then gets a lot cheaper and appears to pay for the bottle before long. Likewise looking into Solar panels. But this is still all in the future for us - we'll learn to work the thing first!
