Bought 2 years ago and used premix gas in a can only used few times and have thrown rod 3 times ,warranty the first time then after 10 min of use it thrown rod again so fixed paid 700 from local stihl dealer and now has broke again
Overall opinion Farm Boss 390
I've owned a Farm Boss 390 with a 50cm blade for 12 years. Previously I had a Husky. Same size. I had a small firewood business. When I first got it I took it back to the dealer saying that it did not have the cutting power of the Husky. No guts when cutting. I thought it required tuning.
keeps getting better
no problems starting and saw seems to get better with each tank of fuel. i replace an ms251 with it and im glad i did. i have an 18 inch bar on it and have been impressed with how it cuts.
Stihl MS 391 starting problem solved
I've owned a Stihl 391 for around seven years which I use on large logs around my property. Until now it has been a total pain to start from cold but great when working. To start it needed the spark plug to be removed, the engine turned over several times with the throttle closed and then the plug replaced before starting in the normal way.
Cannot fault the MS390
I bought my 390 about 5 years ago , and it was second hand but not much work done with it previously. I cut tough firewood and have a longer bar installed, and it has never let me down.I pull it about 5 times on choke until it attempts to fire, and then set to on position, and it fires second pull very time.I am not fully accurate with fuel mix, but close to 50:1ratio.

Used and abused for 20 years
Bought this saw brand new in 2000 as we had moved onto acreage and the Husky 45 special was just too small for the red gum I had available. At the time it was a pricey saw just under a thousand dollars. There is no decompression with this model, so starting is not fun for the weak of arm.
