There is nothing set in stone as to where to park a wall mount. Eye level works well for me.

My wife is an artist and she told me that in art school the rule of thumb was to hang art at eye level. Most of my mounts in my show room are at eye level or just higher and do believe she is right.

I hang them so that the distance from the ceiling to the head is about the same as the distancefrom the brisket and the furniture backs in th room. I like the a bit higher eye level so I can't see the crappy sew job I did on the short "y".
