Negan was going to kill Dwight, but Sherry offered to marry him if he spared Dwight's life. While Dwight was allowed to live and return to the Saviors, his face was burned with an iron as punishment. When Daryl still refuses to submit, Dwight throws him back in his cell, telling him he will either end up working for Negan or on the walker fence. Daryl responds with telling Dwight he understands why he knelt, as he was thinking about someone else - which is why he, Daryl, cannot kneel. The episode ends with Dwight staring at the reanimated Gordon on the fence.
