We're looking into plain white solid surface counters, so far we've seen Corian, Formica and Allen&Roth at Lowes. I'm having a tough time finding a comparison on them. Is one brand superior?

No, I don't think so. They're all made by the same method. There are other brands out there as well. I would look around and see what sounds friendly as to your pocketbook.

The only "protections" are the protections that you generated by doing tons of research. You are the only person who knows your actual needs. They needed to sell you a sink, they did that.

Can you put a solid surface behind a gas range?
