I have started to see listings on ebay for "crackle quartz". This is apparently quartz that has been heated in a dye solution to craze the mineral and color it. I would call that a marketing ploy to sell more second grade material (like aqua aura treatment) and many dealers will mention that it is color enhanced or a similar phrase.

Have you ever sent any Quartz away to get Aqua Auraed? You have to use really good quality Quartz in the elemental coating process or the crystals will explode in the vacume chamber. No cracks, internal flaws or weak clusters.

I certainly agree. It wasn't the treatment per se, it was the fact that some dealers didn't point that out. Some people might buy it thinking it was all natural. In my earlier days, I got caught by treated quartz. It was presented as all-natural, and I bit. It was pretty, but I felt cheated once I found out.
