What is the difference between LEGO and LEGO DUPLO?
Our DUPLO® bricks are scaled up to be twice the size of our regular LEGO® bricks. Our research has shown that the larger size makes them perfect for younger LEGO® builders.
Why is LEGO called DUPLO?
The new brick is called DUPLO deriving from the Latin word for “double” because of the brick's 2:1 scale being twice the size of a standard LEGO brick on all dimensions. The new construction method of combining large and small elements is patented in 1967.
Are DUPLO a choking hazard?
Lego Duplo sets are specifically designed for babies and toddlers. The pieces are bigger than regular-sized Legos, so they won't pose a choking hazard.
