Godrevy Lighthouse was modernised in 1995 when it was converted to solar powered operation. The light was moved from the lighthouse tower to a new steel structure on the adjacent rock in 2012. The lighthouse is now monitored and controlled from Trinity House's Planning Centre in Harwich, Essex.

Is Godrevy Lighthouse working?

By 1939 the keepers had been withdrawn and their cottages were subsequently demolished. In 1995, the lighthouse was modernised and converted to solar powered operation. In 2012 Trinity House discontinued use of the light within the tower, replacing it with an LED light mounted on a steel platform nearby on the rocks.

It was remembered that half way down an outfall pipe (possibly an old mining adit) was cut through the rock. A party crawled through this, taking tackle with which the body was recovered from the pounding waves. Hell's Mouth is well named.
