
How to use Henry’s feather finish?
Instead of using the Ardex brand feather finish which had to be ordered, I used the Henry’s brand feather finish found at our local hardware store. It mixes the same, with the ratio of 1:2 (water to powder.) At first I thought using a mudding pan would work for mixing, but I quickly switched to the temporary buckets.

There are 2 types of feather finish I’ve seen DIY’ers use online, and that is Ardex feather finish, or the Home Depot, Henry brand. We decided to use the Home Depot brand as it was cheaper and local. This type of concrete overlay gives a dark gray color, and I really wanted a light gray.
Is all feather finish the way to go?

We applied two coats of the Feather Finish with ample drying time in between. After it's completely dry and set (follow package directions), you'll want to sand out any lines made with your knife. My husband held a Shop Vac in one hand and his palm sander in the other in order to minimize the dust.
How long does Henry feather finish take to dry?
Easy to use (mix small batches so it doesn't harden up on you to quick), very affordable and the end product is exactly what we had hoped for. A couple of important tips: 1) It only takes about 10 to 15 minutes to harden, so mix don't mix a large amount.
