You should come prepared to take your new pet home -- cats and dogs that are already spayed/neutered are able to go home with their adopter that day! Unaltered pets are scheduled for surgery on the next available weekday and can go home the afternoon of their surgery. BARC supplies cardboard enclosures for transporting cats and leashes for dogs but you may need a kennel or crate for larger animals.
